Reel Two to present at IEEE CSB '04

June 25, 2004

Reel Two's gene name disambiguation system focus of presentation at IEEE CSB in August.

Reel Two's new gene name disambiguation software system will be presented at the IEEE Computational Systems Bioinformatics Conference, to be held at stanford University, Palo Alto, CA on August 16-19, 2004.

The talk will focus on the methodology, results and validation of the system. Called AZuRE, the system automatically classifies and retrieves MEDLINE abstracts related to specific genes, regardless of which gene names or synonyms are used in the query, or how the gene is referred to in the retrieved articles. It is designed to eliminate the considerable problems in searching the literature caused by the lack of standard name conventions for genes and proteins.
